ZainLab addresses the rapid and sustained ageing of the Basque Country by strengthening the care workforce and improving employment opportunities and professional recognition within the care sector and across the broader Care and Longevity Economy. Led by the Basque Government's Department of Economy, Labour and Employment and technically coordinated by Home Care Lab (Grupo SSI), the initiative aims to strengthen the care ecosystem by supporting current and future care professionals through upskilling, reskilling, specialised career guidance, and the development of new professional profiles and roles. It also fosters knowledge and evidence generation, as well as innovation, through collaboration, stakeholder engagement, the identification of emerging trends and communities of experts. Since its launch, the project has supported more than 800 people through training programmes, provided specialised guidance to over 250 participants, and engaged more than 130 organisations – public and private. It has also introduced new professional profiles, roles and training methodologies, helping to build a more skilled, resilient, and coordinated long-term care workforce.

CareNet+ addresses the growing pressure on local care systems caused by population ageing, workforce shortages, and fragmented support services across Germany. It provides a shared coordination platform that connects volunteers, care providers, municipalities, and community organisations. By improving communication, matching support needs with available services, and strengthening collaboration between formal and informal care, the initiative helps build more integrated and person-centred local care systems. As of April 2026, CareNet+ supports around 600 people through a network of 800 volunteers, more than 100 care providers, and four community support networks. The platform has coordinated approximately 88,800 support services and documented over 200,000 hours of care, demonstrating its potential to strengthen local care systems at scale.

People living in Ukraine receiving multiple benefits from the social protection system often had to manage different programmes, institutions, and bank accounts to manage the funds. This made accessing support more complex and slowed the delivery of essential assistance. Launched by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Diia.Card addresses this fragmentation by bringing together government agencies, banks, Mastercard, and international partners on a single digital platform. Within six months of its national rollout, Diia.Card reached more than 3.5 million users and now delivers over ten government programmes, including support for school supplies, health screening services, basic social assistance and pensions, through a single platform. Designed to serve all eligible citizens, it has improved access to social support while creating a scalable and resilient model for delivering benefits, even in wartime conditions.

ATENEA addresses the growing pressures on home care services caused by population ageing, increasing dependency, and rising demand for health and social care. It uses conversational artificial intelligence and wearable technology to provide preventive, person-centred home care. The platform connects social services, healthcare professionals, emergency services, family carers, and municipalities, enabling continuous monitoring, early risk detection, medication reminders, appointment management, and rapid responses when support is needed. By integrating health and social care, the initiative helps older people remain safely and independently in their own homes. The project has already supported 500 older people across 15 municipalities and generated a social return of €4.79 for every €1 invested. Evaluation also found improvements in wellbeing, safety, and autonomy, with 95% of participants reporting reduced feelings of loneliness.

Families in Sebeș, Șpring and Câlnic facing poverty, unstable employment, health challenges and other overlapping difficulties previously had no access to a licensed community-based family support service, leaving children at greater risk of separation from their families. SOS Children’s Villages Romania created the Alba Prevention Service by bringing together a private company, county and local authorities, schools and social service professionals. Private investment funds a team of four social workers, while formal agreements with public authorities integrate referrals, case reviews and public accountability. Families receive individual support based on plans reviewed every six months, alongside psychological assistance, financial literacy, school preparation and life-skills activities. Since February 2025, the service has supported 60 families, including 148 children and 95 caregivers. Six families have completed the programme and achieved autonomy. Initially established in one town and two rural communities, the model is now being replicated with another private partner in Brașov and Constanța counties.

Social workers in Kortrijk face growing administrative workloads and staff shortages, reducing the time available to support people and contributing to stress and overtime. Wijkgericht Sociaal Werk Kortrijk partnered with Beam to pilot Beam Notes, an artificial intelligence tool that helps practitioners prepare case documentation. Twenty social workers from several neighbourhood teams helped set the pilot’s objectives, adapt templates to Dutch-language Belgian social care requirements and refine the tool through continuous feedback. Practitioners retained control by reviewing and editing all generated text. Between October 2025 and February 2026, the average time needed to complete a social report fell by 37%, from 40.5 to 25.4 minutes. The proportion of staff regularly working outside normal hours decreased from 53% to 12.5%. Participants reported 88% satisfaction, while all team leaders observed improvements in written work. In addition, 69% of participating workers said they could focus better on the person they were supporting during meetings.

Many young people who are financially and socially disadvantaged cannot obtain a driving licence because they lack access to lessons, a practice vehicle or guidance. This restricts their opportunities for employment, education and participation in community life. 2GO addresses this mobility inequality by pairing people aged 18 to 30 with trained volunteer driving coaches. Participants receive free access to dual-control vehicles and around two hours of individual practice each week for five to nine months. In Genk, the initiative brings together 2GO, the local public social welfare centre, adult education and youth and social support organisations, which also refer participants. Alongside driving skills, the coaching relationship helps young people develop confidence, independence and social connections. Since 2GO was founded in 2021, more than 150 participants have obtained a driving licence and more than 160 are receiving support. The model operates in eight Flemish cities, although a waiting list of over 250 people demonstrates growing demand.

Many households in Cyprus receive public benefits but still struggle to access essential goods, education and employment opportunities. At the same time, companies seeking to maximise the social impact of their corporate responsibility initiatives have often lacked a systematic mechanism for identifying and reaching those most in need. In response, the Welfare Benefits Administration Service (WBAS) created the Smart Social Economy to connect private-sector in-kind contributions and opportunities with beneficiaries identified through the government-administered welfare benefits system. WBAS identifies eligible beneficiaries and matches them with targeted private-sector support, including traceable vouchers for goods and services, scholarships, paid placements, employment pathways, subsidised childcare and other forms of support provided by companies, universities and employers. The initiative complements existing public benefits, enabling contributions to be targeted, monitored, transparent, traceable and measurable. During its initial implementation in 2025, over €1.6 million in private-sector in-kind contributions were channelled through the Smart Social Economy, initially benefiting more than 6,000 children. The initiative has since expanded to adults and additional beneficiary groups, while continuing to grow nationwide through new partners and areas of support, including energy, digital access and educational materials.
